WHAT IS KB FITNESS?

KB Fitness martial arts academy, headed by Kung Fu and Kickboxing Black Belt, Kelly Bunyan. Established in 1999, there are three training disciplines: KB Kickboxing, KB Self Defence & KB Kung Fu. Click on each discipline to learn more.

WHERE ARE THE CLASSES BASED?

The classes are held in our 2 martial arts studios in Central London. One is located between Euston, King’s Cross and Mornington Crescent tube stations, the other is closest to Euston. Once you sign up, we’ll give you full location details. Simultaneously, live streamed from the venue, we offer our classes online; you can train from anywhere in the world.

WHAT AGE GROUP DO YOU TEACH?

Our London martial arts classes are predominantly for adults. That said a parent / guardian can accompany a 16+ year old child. Children of all ages are welcome to train online with their parents.

DO YOU HAVE A PAY-PER-CLASS OPTION?

Our school is too popular / busy to offer this option. You can pay £14.95 to try a KB Self Defence class. A KB Kickboxing trial is free.

WHAT TO WEAR / DO I NEED ANY KIT?

To avoid you slipping in your own sweat, please cover up. So no cropped tops or shorts. If ever you want to, you can invest in the school’s uniform, but there’s no need to do that unless you take your belts.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT, I'M QUITE NERVOUS?

It’s normal to be nervous. Everybody was when they first started. Everybody is friendly, welcoming and nurturing. All KB Members are encouraged to smile at one another and bow when greeting a new training partner. Take a look on our KB YouTube Channel to take a closer look at what to expect. The videos give you an insight into the different classes on offer.

I'M ON MY OWN & NEW TO THIS, WILL I HOLD OTHERS BACK?

99% of our members started on their own. Once you pluck up the courage to step into the dojo, we’ll do the rest to make you feel safe. Everybody looks after each other. We were all beginners once and therefore we know what it’s like to step outside of your comfort zone. Push through and you’ll surely agree it’s worth it. The class involves partner work (holding focus mitts for each other) as well as the existing air work. You can’t hold anybody back because you’ll be working with other beginners. Even if you were training with more advanced students, they can still get a great workout, whoever they’re training with. So be positive and up for it and you’ll love it.

I'M REALLY UNFIT, OVERWEIGHT & UNCOORDINATED. WILL I BE ABLE TO DO THIS?

The classes are there to help you get fit and, if desired, to lose weight, if you combine your training with balanced eating. Co-ordination will improve with practice. The instructors are very encouraging and understanding, so you would never be pushed to extreme limits, nor made to feel uncomfortable. It is important you take the classes at your own pace and week by week, you’ll get stronger.

WILL I GET HURT AT KB FITNESS?

An accident could happen with martial arts training, as with any sport. Although, due to extra care being taken, not one of our students has been seriously injured in our classes. Contact is light and controlled, so any injuries are highly unlikely.

SHOULD I EAT BEFORE TRAINING?

2 hours before training is fine. Bring some raisins or a banana in case you feel hungry, or a drop in energy during class. Don’t forget to bring lots of water too.

DO I HAVE TO TAKE BELTS?

You are not obliged to take any KB Kickboxing belts. That said, the vast majority of KB members grade, although some do refrain. If you were to join KB Kung Fu, taking sashes is obligatory. The KB teaching team will be behind you, whatever your motivation for training. After a few weeks, you might realise that you would like to experience the wondrous grading high.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED TO BUY?

You're not obliged to buy anything. If you would like to experience the exhilaration that comes from contact work, you could purchase our gloves. If you love the partner work as much as many of our members, you might decide that you'd like to start sparring. You'd then need to get some kit, but you can cross that bridge when you get to it, nothing is needed until then.

I AM NOT A BEGINNER, CAN I STILL SIGN UP

Definitely. We have classes that you could slot into; our lessons cater to beginners, all the way through to Black Belts. Tuesdays are our more advanced classes.
