MOPS, TWIGS & SWORDS!

Last night, our members were using all kinds of items to participate in their martial arts classes.

At KB Fitness, we offer classes in three different disciplines: KB Kickboxing, KB Kung Fu and KB Self Defence. 

It was during a KB Kung Fu class, that our members were encouraged to pick up their 'swords' and 'staffs,' (poles) or the equivalent thereof.

The forest local to one member, Gracie, was kind enough to donate a sword to her, in the form of an oversized twig. Mops, brooms and so on were popular.

 

KB Chief Instructor, Kelly Bunyan, said:

"Weapon training in my classes, more than anything, is for fun. So when my students show off their 'weaponry,' it certainly makes for a good laugh! Training with such props adds a wonderful dimension to the martial arts experience."

One KB Member,  added:

'I love the fact that Kelly isn't teaching us how to go out and use weapons on others aggressively. Instead, it's all about self-empowerment, learning how to defend yourself (never lulled into a false sense of security mind) and most importantly, we have a blast whilst keeping fit.'

SELF-DEFENCE IS BACK!

The lockdowns got in the way of our usual self-defence classes in London. However, now that we are able to do pad work again, we are delighted to announce the return of our physical KB Self Defence classes on Mondays at 7pm. The June grading, true to form, did not disappoint. KB Sunday is renowned at KB Fitness for being a day full of emotion. It's when our members take their belts, a 'grading.'
