HIGHLY BENEFICIAL

There are many 'unhealthy' ways to relieve stress, so it's good to invest in Kickboxing classes in order to balance those with a healthier option.

It is proven that pent up stress can lead to serious illness. The cardio-vascular aspect of Kickboxing training increases lung capacity, which in turn helps to increase the supply of oxygen to the body - essential for healing. Strengthening the muscles supports the joints, improving posture enables better breathing and balance etc.

Joining a Kickboxing class has such an immediate, positive impact on your life. We're not aggressive in our approach, but it's inevitable that punching and kicking and ki-ai'ing helps to feel emotionally 'lighter.' Who gets to shout loudly without being considered 'odd?!'

That in itself is a transformative release. It's the exhilaration of training, the endorphin rush mentioned above, that leaves you with a confident, floating feeling after you train. Chief Instructor, Kelly Bunyan (KB) believes:

“When I sometimes reference 'soaring,' I'm talking about my students' chi (qi), our life energy flow, present in all living beings. Enhancing our chi, through our training, is the path to uplifting our spirit. Once our body and mind are calm and receptive, our chi will circulate better, which engenders a soaring spirit.”

Usually, it's not until KB members reach Kelly KB’s classes, that they start to truly understand one of the other great benefits of training in the school: Kelly, herself. She has taught 1000s of people over the years, but she has mentored 100s. There's a difference because some people tap into all that Kelly can offer and others don't feel the need.

Kelly says that both ways are equally fine. It's the minority, the 100s rather than 1000s, that truly absorb Kelly’s teachings about the mental approach to training, and to life in general. Kelly adds:

“The numbers don't matter, what matters is that I'm on tap as little or as much as my students need me. I enjoy providing emotional support to those that need it - I'm a confidante, a counseller, whatever is needed.”

It's no accident that the Black Belts make considered statements at the pub during their thank you speeches about how their chief instructor has influenced them in their lives. After training in the martial arts for 36+ years, it is this side of the martial arts that Kelly cherishes the most, impacting on people's lives in a positive way.

One more major benefit is to acknowledge the friendships formed when training in the martial arts. Only training peers truly understand the love for training. Loved ones outside the school are happy for our members, but they will never fully understand, nor share their passion. Hence why training peers become so significant. The term, 'KB family' frequently mentioned by the students is a reality, not a marketing ploy. We are all connected in a spiritual and physical way.

However long our members decide to train with us, what matters most is that the benefits available are reaped in the present moment and plugging into the KB generator for an uplifting, energised recharge is relished.
