What a treat! After multiple online gradings in 2020, it was an absolute joy to be able to gather in the dojo in person, for December's KB Kickboxing grading.

What with the second lockdown, it wasn't looking likely that our members would be able to grade alongside one another. Putting the uncertainty to one side, our students prepared to take their new belts with the same drive and commitment, wherever it might take place.

They were rewarded with the opportunity to grade in our dojo in Euston. Everybody was so delighted that it was possible, as gathering together is always more exceptional than being contained in isolated screens.

That said, 2020 has gifted KB Fitness the need to embrace modern technology and livestream our classes and gradings online. The advantage of this, is that members who left London previously have been able to return online, plus new members who are further afield have been able to join us too. As a result, at the KB Grading, the virtual and physical realm converged to unite people from London, Scotland, Belgium, Germany, the USA and beyond.

The energy was electric! Grading days are always such a unique experience for all involved, as the mix of grading nerves - born out of a desire to excel - combined with the immense pride felt when the belt is passed, generates an unprecedented high.

KB Chief Instructor & Examiner, Kelly Bunyan, said: "After all the virtual gradings I held this year, it was a veritable treat to be able to unite in the dojo for this positive day. Everybody excelled and proved that it doesn't matter what's going on in the world, standards at KB Kickboxing remain super high! I was so impressed by all that I saw. A palpable, positively overwhelming experience."

“We must strive for excellence!” are words that Chief Instructor Kelly Bunyan periodically roars at the front of her dojo. Considering that excellence refers to the quality of being outstanding or extremely good, that is a bold, rallying statement to make.

Lineage is often referenced in the martial arts. Some would go so far as to say that a school which fails to reference their lineage lacks credibility. Kelly Bunyan, KB Fitness’ Chief Instructor, is not inclined to believe that as she always says: “The quality of instruction reigns supreme.”

Gradings engender an effluence of emotions and gratitude. It is during a grading at KB Fitness that the spiritual KB connection is most palpable. Aside from the final calls of each grading level, a traditional silence encapsulates the emotion brewing within.

Our members suggest you join KB Fitness to … “get fit, recharge, release endorphins, look forward to exercise, learn something new, have a great work-life balance, set goals, be addicted to boosting your well-being.” Jane mentions that the teaching team cares, it’s true, we really do.
